Yohan Cabaye Names Surprise 'Strongest' Player In The Premier League

The Crystal Palace midfielder has made a surprise choice for the player he believes is best in the Premier League.

We've all got our personal favourite player. Sure you could just pick Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi but that would be obvious and boring. For Yohan Cabaye his selection isn't who most of us would pick.

Personally two of my favourite players of all time were Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldinho, each were arguably two of the best players of their generation but there was just something about the way they played that made me fall in love with them.

More recently one of my favourite Premier League players has always been David Silva. He's probably never even been City's best player in that team but the Spaniard just oozes class.

That said it's probably pretty difficult to put your finger on just who is the best player in the Premier League, it's not like Neymar in Ligue 1, that's a much more cut and dry argument.

Frenchman Yohan Cabaye reckons that it's actually Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil who is the 'strongest' player in the league, telling France Football, via the Croydon Advertiser:

"The strongest player in England, I think? Mesut Ozil. He is really, very strong. You get the impression that he does not care, that he is nonchalant, but at one point he will put a pass that nobody has seen.

"He always knows everything before everyone else. That's what is fabulous about him."

Whether Cabaye literally means 'strongest' or not it seems like an odd choice. The German certainly isn't the most robust player and his time in England has been up and down at best.

Arsenal have won the FA Cup three times in four years since the World Cup winner joined from Real Madrid but he has often 'gone missing' in their biggest games.

Ozil only has one year left on his contract at Arsenal and it's not clear if he'll stay past this season. Rumours on Friday suggested AC Milan could be in for Yohan Cabaye before the end of the transfer window.
