The opening game of the 2017/18 Bundesliga season saw the introduction of Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
Defending champions Bayern Munich kicked-off the German league campaign at home to Bayer Leverkusen.
While two new Bayern players scored on their Bundesliga debut, the main takeaway of the match was the use of VAR.

Niklas Sule gave Bayern the lead in the ninth minute before Corentin Tolisso doubled the score a few minutes later.

Robert Lewandowski converted the penalty. Leverkusen's Admir Mehmedi bagged a consolation with Bayern eventually sealing all three points.
