Firmino Has Unpopular Opinion On Who He Wants To Face In Champions League

We're halfway through the Champions League second round and thoughts are already turning to the quarter finals and who will play who. Roberto Firmino has named who he'd like to see Liverpool come up against.

Going into the second round of the Champions League the Premier League was the first league to have five clubs in the last 16 of UEFA's premier club competition. If all five went through it would mean at least one all English tie in the next round.

All five sides gave themselves a chance with decent first leg results. Liverpool and Manchester City both went through this week easily, taking a 5-0 and 4-0 lead into their home legs respectively.

Both sides went through despite adding to their advantage, and City actually losing theirs by a goal, but Spurs were dumped out by Juventus, losing 4-3 on aggregate.

Chelsea and Manchester United could soon make it four sides through next week which would make an all Premier League meeting likely but far from certain. Speaking after their 0-0 draw with Porto Roberto Firmino revealed that contrary to popular opinion he'd like to face a side from England, saying:

"Yes, we'd like a draw against an English club.

"We have shown in the past few seasons we can beat all the English clubs. Our record is good against them.

"We feel we have played well against the top English clubs and shown we can beat them. But we are not afraid of anyone in the draw."

It's no wonder that the Brazilian says that with their decent record against the top five this season. Sure they lost 5-0 to Manchester City at the beginning of the season but they remain the only side to beat Pep Guardiola's in the Premier League.

They've previously drawn with both Manchester United and Chelsea and are still to play them again this term.

Even before Jurgen Klopp's side find out if they can face United in the next round of the Champions League the pair face on Saturday in the north west derby in the Premier League.

Most players would rather avoid a league rival in the Champions League, as Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard agreed on BT Sport last night, but not Firmino.
