Everybody Is Talking About Ashley Williams' Incident Against Lyon

Things got very fiery....

Ashley Williams well and truly lost the plot in the second half against Lyon in the Europa League defeat at Goodison Park.

With Ronald Koeman's side 1-0 down and struggling to the Ligue One outfit, captain Williams cut a frustrated figure and shoved Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes as he challenged for the ball.

What followed was something you'd expect to see every January in WWE when Royal Rumble rolls around, as a big scrap between the players followed, with former Swansea defender Williams throwing and swinging his hands all over the place as things get very fiery.

There was even a bit of outside interference as an Everton fan sat behind the goal at the Gwladys Street end, and holding a child, tried to get involved.

Twitter erupted with reaction:

Having been show a yellow, Williams somehow avoided a red card and moments later, when he shouldn't have been on the pitch, headed home an equaliser from a pinpoint Gylfi Sigurdsson free-kick.

But Everton weren't level for long as not long after, Bertrand Traore, who was also involved in the scuffle, regained the lead for the visitors with a smart backheeled finish.

Everton still have just one point in the Europa League this season and their failure to get a result tonight means the pressure only continues to mount on Ronald Koeman.
