Toilet roof at Premier League stadium collapses leaving gaping hole and smashed plaster all over floor

Pictures of the damage done to the Premier League ground emerged on social media.

Manchester City fans were singing about Old Trafford falling down last week but another Premier League stadium has been experiencing the same problems.

Pictures of the state of the toilets at Luton Town's Kenilworth Road have emerged on social media.

The ground staged an entertaining 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, with Luis Diaz scoring a stoppage time equaliser and celebrating with a message calling for the freedom of his kidnapped father after Tahith Chong had put the Hatters ahead.

It was a brilliant, spirited performance from Rob Edwards' side, who are 17th in the league.

But the Premier League newcomers do have an off-the-field problem to attend to.

Thom Gibbs of The Telegraph posted images of the men's toilet in the main stand.

The bathroom was left with a large gaping hole in the roof after it collapsed and result in the ceiling and plastering dropping to the floor and into the urinal.

The journalist posted the pictures with the caption: "About to leave Kenilworth Road and I know it’s a cliché to say an old ground is 'falling apart' but…"

Kenilworth Road has been Luton's home since 1905 and is known for its unique away end where fans have to go through someone's back garden.

After beating Coventry on penalties in the play-off final at Wembley to secure promotion to the Premier League, their home ground had to undergo a £10 million revamp so it met Premier League requirements.

The Bobby Stand was a key part of the renovation and led to a capacity increase, while there was also a new larger TV gantry and improved floodlights.

"It's still humble like the rest of the ground," Sky Sports cameraman and Luton fan Anthony Hagen said.

"It's not swanky - it's not Premier League, let's face it. The club don't want it to feel really modern and new.

"When we move to a new ground in a few years' time, you can start changing the culture of things - but you won't change the culture in Kenilworth Road."

SPORTbible has contacted Luton Town for comment.
