Jurgen Klopp couldn't bring himself to watch Mohamed Salah take a penalty against Arsenal on Sunday, and got a bit confused about whether the attacker had scored or not.

Arsenal's bid to win a first Premier League title since 2004 suffered a blow as Liverpool fought back to claim a 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Gabriel Martinelli gave the visitors an early lead, before Gabriel Jesus doubled the advantage with a well-timed header.

Liverpool were woeful for much of the first half, but Mo Salah pulled one back just before half-time to set up an exciting a tightly-contested second period.

Liverpool came out fighting for the second half and scored a late equaliser courtesy of Roberto Firmino.

Earlier in the half the hosts were awarded a penalty when Rob Holding tripped Diogo Jota inside the box.

Salah stepped up to take the spot-kick, but he sent his low effort wide of Aaron Ramsdale's right-hand post. The Egyptian attacker, historically reliable from 12 yards, has now missed his last two penalties.

After a tetchy opening 45 minutes which ended with the linesman appearing to elbow Andrew Robertson in the face, tensions and emotions were already high at Anfield.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was as ever wrapped up in it all, so much so that he couldn't bring himself to watch Salah's penalty.

The German coach turned his back to the pitch as Salah took the kick, before turning around and celebrating.

The only problem was that Salah missed.

Somehow Klopp mistook the cheers of the traveling Arsenal fans for those of the home supporters, leaving him looking very confused when he realised that his side were still trailing 2-1.

It took Klopp a few seconds to realise what had happened, before he snapped out of his daze and began encouraging his troops from the sideline.

The result leaves Arsenal six points clear at the top of the Premier League table, although the Gunners have played one game more than their closest challengers Manchester City.
