The typically charismatic Zlatan Ibrahimovic has opened up about his spell at Manchester United, detailing his regrets.

Ibrahimovic proved to be a hit in his debut season at the club, bagging an impressive 28 goals in all competition collecting silverware along the way.

But his second season with United was a nightmare following the serious knee injury he sustained in the previous campaign.

The 36-year-old has since transferred to the Major League Soccer, securing a switch to LA Galaxy.

And with his former side in the States for their pre-season tour, Ibrahmovic has been reflecting on his time in England.

"I feel sorry for the fans - if they'd seen me younger, they'd have seen a different lion," he said.

"For the Premier League, it would have been dangerous, as I would have eaten them for breakfast; instead, I took them for lunch. But I came: they wanted me, I gave them me and I took over. Been there and done that."

The Swede added: "I would need more time to explain my feelings but let's start with a big thanks to everybody - what they did was amazing and I hope they are as happy as I am

"I gave as much as I could for as long as I could; when I got injured, I got support in a different way. They always stood behind me and my team-mates."

Ah, never change, Zlatan. Never change.

Anyway, Ibrahimovic enjoyed a superb debut for his new team, netting a brace which included a truly ridiculous long-range effort.
