The worst way to be dumped is by text but even the Champions League winners sometimes find out they're getting dumped via their phones only this was by their manager. Fortunately he sent them a very nice message.

The last thing anyone was expecting was for Zinedine Zidane to be stepping down on Thursday, in a week where Raheem Sterling was at fault for all of life's ills it was Zidane who still shocked us the most.

On stepping down Zidane clearly had some strong emotions telling the press conference to announce his decision, "I love this club. What I think is that this team needs to continue winning but I think it needs a change, a different voice, another methodology. This is the right moment for all involved - for me, for the squad, for the club."

Florentino Perez clearly wasn't a happy man at the press conference, why would he be, and the players were also reportedly shocked.

The players had to find out through their captain. Sergio Ramos was the only player who was told by Zizou, with the Spaniard receiving a text, and he had to tell his teammates of the news.

However after the news was announced Zidane picked up his phone again and sent a message to the players on Whatsapp, according to Cadena SER it read:

"Thanks for everything. Without your support in the worst moments nothing we did would have been possible. We will see each other soon, a hug."

Of course what they did never actually seemed possible. Zidane took over two and a half years ago after a poor start to the season under Rafa Benitez.

By the time he'd left the Bernabeu Los Blancos had won La Liga for the first time in five years and also become the first side to win three Champions League in a row.

It makes you wonder if anyone has ever dumped Cristiano Ronaldo by text. "Sorry Cris, it's not you, it's me. I think we should see other people."

Let's be honest, the lucky guy has probably never been dumped at all.

That makes me feel slightly better about them losing Zidane!
