Why Barca's Ousmane Dembele Was Not Brought On Against Inter Milan

It doesn't sound too great from the Frenchman...

Ousmane Dembele was not involved in Barcelona's Champions League game against Inter Milan on Tuesday and it's emerged why the Frenchman was not brought on.

Even with Lionel Messi injured and forced to watch the game from the stands, the former Borussia Dortmund and Rennes was completely overlooked by Ernesto Valverde - not even being asked to warm up by his manager.

Nelso Semedo, Arturo Vidal and Munir El Haddadi were all introduced instead of Barca's £97 million man.

According to Sport, it's all down to what Dembele did - or failed to do rather - before he entered the fray in the 4-2 win over Sevilla a couple of days prior.

The Catalan outlet say Valverde was not happy with how long he took to get ready for his cameo appearance, specifically the fact he didn't have his boots tied.

There was also talk that Dembele was 25 minutes late arriving for the Champions League clash but it was later confirmed that the deadline had been extended and the player was in fact on time.

Still though, Dembele was kept on the bench to serve him a reminder that he must always be ready for his chance. If it happened in this Sunday's El Clasico, things would probably have been much worse.

Prior to this incident, he had started the season in positive fashion, scoring seven goals for club and country.
