Manchester United and Chelsea both confirmed their spots in the last 16 of the Champions League, tonight, with United finishing as winners of their group while Chelsea had to settle for a runners up spot, finishing behind Roma in Group C.
United finished the group phase with a 2-1 victory over CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford while Chelsea drew 1-1 with Atletico Madrid.
And now both clubs know who they could potentially be facing in the round of 16.

Tottenham and Manchester City had already qualified as group winners during the last round of group games, while United and Chelsea weren't assured of their finishing positions until tonight.

For the most part, finishing positions in all eight groups have now been decided with teams from the same country also unable to draw each other in the second round.
Only Liverpool, Sevilla, Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk are currently in qualifying positions and may still end up having to settle for Europa League football depending on how the results of tomorrow night's games pan out.

As group winners, United can draw only the runners up of the other seven groups, while Chelsea can only face group winners and as you can see from the two tables below, both teams could be drawn against some of Europe's biggest heavyweights.
The asterisks denote teams who are not yet assured of their current qualifying positions.

As well as not being able to draw teams from their own country, no team can draw the winner/runner up of their own group in the next round.
Depending on how results fall tomorrow night, Shakhtar Donetsk could be replaced by Serie A giants, which would be a much more menacing proposition for United, while Porto could be replaced by Red Bull Leipzig and a Spartak Moscow victory over Liverpool at Anfield would fire the Russian club into the final 16.
