What's Happening With Ravel Morrison's Career Right Now Is Sad To See

He had so much potential...

Ravel Morrison had the potential to be something special but his career really has not gone to plan.

So many high-calibre people connected to Manchester United view him as the very best they have seen in the academy, including his former teammate Paul Pogba, and the one and only Sir Alex Ferguson.

The legendary manager revealed just how sad Morrison's failure to succeed at Old Trafford was in his book 'Leading' and put it down to his frequent problems off the pitch.

"Sadly, there are examples of players who have similar backgrounds to Giggs or Cristiano Ronaldo, who, despite enormous talent, just aren't emotionally or mentally strong enough to overcome the hurts of their childhood and their inner demons," the fiery Scot writes.

"Ravel Morrison might be the saddest case. He possessed as much natural talent as any youngster we ever signed, but kept getting into trouble.

"It was very painful to sell him to West Ham in 2012 because he could have been a fantastic player. But, over a period of years, the problems off the pitch continued to escalate and we had little option but to cut the cord."

Plenty of players don't make it United but then go on to have a decent career elsewhere. For Morrison, however, it's not been the case.

Mike Keegan from the Daily Mail reports that Serie A giants Lazio are prepared to get rid of him for nothing even though he has a year left remaining on his contract.

After joining many Brits in making the switch to Italy in 2015, the former England Under 21 player featured just seven times.

He ended up going on as strange but relatively successful loan stint with Mexican outfit Atlas, but it still looks as though he has no future in the Italian capital - with his last appearance for them coming in December 2015.

Atlas were said to be interested in signing him permanently, as are Vitoria in Portugal. But his next move really is anyone's guess because it's been that sort of journey for him.

The last we heard of him was in March this year when Morrison received an invitation from Jamaica, who were exploring the possibility of him switching allegiance to play for them. Though it's gone very quiet on that front.

There was so much promise with this cocky but technically superb lad from Wythenshawe, yet time is running out. Sadly, he is on course to go down as the biggest waste of talent in modern football.
