Cristiano Ronaldo was ice cool and slotted his penalty away past David De Gea in the thrilling 3-3 draw with Spain on Friday night, and footage of what Sergio Ramos did just before the spot-kick has emerged online.

Having played with Ronaldo at Real Madrid and lifted four Champions League trophies since CR7 made his then world-record £80 million switch to the Bernabeu in 2009, Ramos thought he knew here Ronaldo would put the penalty after he was fouled by Nacho in the area.

We saw De Gea trying to put Ronaldo off by staring at him but what we didn't see, was Ramos telling him to dive to the right.

The Manchester United goalkeeper went with what his captain told him, but of course Ronaldo went the other way and delivered an emphatic penalty to open the scoring.

Diego Costa then levelled matters with the most Diego Costa goal ever, bullying defenders, twisting and turning before slotting home past Rui Patricio.

De Gea did his best Rob Green impression when he spilled Ronaldo's left-footed finish into the net just before half-time, with Costa pulling La Roja back on level terms ten minutes into the second half.

Nacho Fernandez's screamer looked to be the match-winner but it was his Los Blancos colleague who stole the headlines once again, completing his hat-trick with a stunning 88th minute free-kick that left De Gea routed to the spot.

Ronaldo had equalled his previous tally of World Cup goals in one game, while also becoming the fourth player in history to score in four consecutive World Cups.

It was one of the all-time great World Cup displays from the 30-year old, but the skipper remained humble after the final whistle.

Portugal take on Morocco on Wednesday, while Spain play top of the group Iran later on that day.
