Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to become the next permanent manager of Manchester United but details of what the Norwegian has to do to get the job have emerged.

Since being appointed caretaker boss following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho, Solskjaer has won his first five games in a row - and most importantly - brought the swagger back to Manchester United and seeing his side score 16 goals.

The United legend is lobbying for the job full-time, saying he doesn't want to leave in a press conference just over a week ago.

He's said to have impressed key figures within the club but it's suggested by Matt Hughes in The Times that in order to stay on at Old Trafford as opposed to heading back to Molde, Solskjaer will either need to win the FA Cup or Champions League, as well as finish in the top four to have a "serious chance".

Solskjaer suggested that one way he could potentially be offered the role on a permanent basis would be if his side played with the same flair and prowess as Sir Alex Ferguson's teams once did.

"If we get to the summer and people are talking about the way Manchester United are playing," he explained (via the Guardian).

"The style we're playing -- [if] it reminds us of Sir Alex's team. It has to start with the way we play, because results you cannot control. You can control how you approach the game and how you play.

"And, of course, trophies. If you can get to the final of the FA Cup and get a trophy [that might be a factor]. Let's see in May if it's [my tenure is] a success or not."

Solskjaer is of course behind Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, with the Argentine the strong contender to take the reins in the summer.

Should OGS be given a chance?
