The race to sign Alexis Sanchez has hotted up following Manchester United reportedly tabling a £25 million offer, and Pep Guardiola has reacted to Jose Mourinho's move.

Manchester City's pursuit of Sanchez is abundantly clear. The Premier League leaders want him. And it appears they want him this month. Guardiola is hellbent on reuniting with the player following their stint together at Barcelona.

Though while Arsenal have rejected City's advances, United are keen on hijacking the deal.

(Classic Jose Mourinho quotes:)

Mourinho is believed to have offered cash and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as he declares a transfer tug of war. What's more, it's claimed Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the Chile star after selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

And ahead of Guardiola taking his charges to Anfield on Sunday, he's reacted to the Premier League duo entering the mix to sign Sanchez.

"They have two choices: Follow what you say or follow me," the message he issued to his players via Manchester Evening News.

"Hopefully I'll convince them to follow football on the pitch.

Amid the wild transfer saga, Guardiola wants to focus his energy on the Super Sunday clash.

"Sunday is Liverpool - I want to focus on that. Everyone knows the quality of Alexis - but it's Liverpool. I'm sorry I can't answer about Alexis and other players.

"We have to choose which to focus on - and I want to focus on what we are doing on the field.

Guardiola added: "I would not like my players to listen, see and read the manager talking about other things. The important thing is what happens for 90 minutes on the pitch.

"Spain made a good step forward in the last 10 years when the journalists talk about what happens on the pitch.

"One of the big successes in Spain is the people speak more than usual about the game, what happens on the pitch. That's how I feel more comfortable.

City? United? Arsenal? Or even Liverpool? Just where will Sanchez be plying his trade once the window slams shut at the end of the month?
