Karren Brady has fired back at Dimitri Payet after managed to go down further in the estimations of West Ham fans with recent comments.

The Frenchman went on strike in January and basically forced a move back to Marseille after deciding he didn't fancy playing for West Ham anymore.

Speaking in a press conference, Slaven Bilic confirmed the news that his star man wanted out.

He said:

"Let's get serious. I have a situation with a player. It is Dimitri Payet. He wants to leave. We have said we don't want to sell our best players but Payet does not want to play for us."

Payet would eventually get his wish and signed permanently with Marseille for a fee of £25 million.

West Ham fans quickly changed the lyrics to their famous Payet chant and debuted a more explicit version about their former hero:

The 29-year old said he was "bored" of the "defensive system" West Ham had in place and no longer wanted to play for a team at the bottom of the league.

Detailing his reasons for leaving to L'Equipe, he said:

"I no longer wanted to play in a team at the bottom of the Premier League. Our way of approaching matches, I didn't like the defensive system put in place.

"Playing 4-5-1, I could have all the liberty in the world - it was complicated to express myself. You can say I was bored, yes.

"I was going through matches without any pleasure. Then I had contact with Marseille, especially with Rudi Garcia who has a philosophy I know well. The choice was quick. If I had waited six months, I was losing six months.

"I didn't hesitate. With West Ham at home against Hull (on December 17) we won 1-0 and they hit the woodwork four times.

"In the changing room, everyone was pleased but the man of the match that day had been the post. I thought I would not progress anymore.

However, Brady has hit back at the former player and criticised his professionalism.

Writing in her column for The Sun, she said:

"Dimitri Payet says he got bored when West Ham went through a bad patch.

"Some excuse to go on strike that is. His reason at the time was his family were unhappy in England.

"Payet did well with us and we did well by him. He regained his international spot and, while we had defensive problems at the start of the season a decent pro doesn't withdraw his labour.

"He, like us, should just move on."

If Payet ever returns to East London, it could get nasty...
