They got him good...

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure signed a new one-year contract with the club yesterday, proving his value to the club, but the big Ivorian isn't exempt from being pranked.

City have produced a number of great videos on their channels in recent times, with the theme being that the players surprise supporters and thank them for their incredible support.

The likes of Willy Caballero, Aleix Garcia, Tosin Adarabioyo, Raheem Sterling, Gael Clichy and Fabian Delph all turned up at fans houses, while Pablo Zabaleta, confirmed to be ending his nine-year stint at the Etihad by signing for West Ham, surprised unsuspecting City fans and had a kickabout with some lucky blues.

However, the roles were reversed when it came to Yaya Toure as the former Barcelona man was the one receiving the surprise.

The 33-year old was informed by CityTV, the club's YouTube channel, that he was needed for a sit-down interview.

But as he was told to open a certain door, Toure was instead set up to be greeted by dozens of City fans singing his name.

After his initial shocked reaction, Toure was happy to shake the hands of the City faithful and pose for pictures with those who have cheered him on during his decorated seven-year spell in England.

Then, just when Toure thought that play-time was over and he was going into the correct room for a chinwag, a different set of City fans surprised him by belting out the famous "Yaya and Kolo chant".

His reaction for the second prank was even better than the first!

Toure was responsible for a surprise himself, though, as he turned up at die-hard City fan Shirley's house with cake (the irony) and flowers on her 50th birthday.

Having been cast aside by Pep Guardiola early in the 2016/17 campaign following inept fitness and constant comments from his agent Dimitri Seluk, it's been quite the turnaround for Yaya, who more than proved his worth to City and is undoubtedly deserving of his new contract.
