Fred rose to prominence in Brazil, before sealing a move to Europe by signing with Shaktar Donetsk in 2013.
Following last season, the 25-year-old enhanced his budding reputation while attracting plenty of interest.

As well as Fred, Mourinho further reinforced his squad with the addition of Porto's 19-year-old defender Diogo Dalot.
