Iaquinta, 38, played his whole professional career in Italy. After producing heroics for Udinese, he secured a big transfer to Juventus where he won the Serie A title in 2013.

He also has 40 international caps to his name, winning the prestigious World Cup in 2006.

In 2012, he called time on his career.

Fast forward a few years, Iaquinta appears to be in legal trouble for alleged mafia links, per Football Italia.

Iaquinta was indicted back in 2015 for illegal possession of firearms, as well as intention to aid the Calabrian mafia, 'Ndrangheta.

He's also charged with falsifying invoices, usury, extortion, fraud and criminal association with the Mafia.

What's more, Iaquinta's father has also been questioned with a potential 19-year sentence behind bars looming over his head.

140 people have been trailed in the case so far.

The suspects are suspected to have been supporting 'Ndrangheta. From profiting illegally, while attempting to infiltrate north of Italy - a region where the organisation is believed to be weak.

An insane turn of events.

Stay tuned for further updates regarding his crazy situation.
