Jamie Vardy Won't Be Best Pleased With The Premier League Record He Just Equalled

It's one he'll want to forget about.

Jamie Vardy is no stranger to Premier League records but he won't celebrating the latest one he equalled.

The Leicester City and England striker famously made history in the Foxes' stunning 2015/16 Premier League by becoming the first player to score in 11 consecutive games in the Premier League, edging out Ruud van Nistelrooy's previous achievement.

But this time around, Vardy will be hoping he doesn't break a certain record.

That's because after scoring in the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle at the weekend, he's now scored in seven Premier League defeats for Leicester this season - a record he now shares with Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier and current Saints striker Charlie Austin.

Le Tissier did it in 1992-93, while Austin did it during his time with QPR - with whom he scored 18 goals in 35 games for in 2014/2015.

With a bit of help from Riyad Mahrez now and again, 31-year old Vardy is clearly doing it on his own at Leicester.

He has 19 goals in 36 games in all competitions, including 16 in the league. Only Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Mo Salah have more goals than the former Fleetwood Town man.

His latest strike on Saturday proved to be nothing more than a consolation and he'll be hoping this unwanted trend doesn't continue.

In all truth though, you'd have to say it's likely that Vardy will boast a second, far less significant Premier League record to his name by the time this season is done and dusted.
