Wolves Have Absolutely Bossed The Summer Transfer Window

Wolves Have Absolutely Bossed The Summer Transfer Window

Jorge Mendes doing the lord's work...

I think most watchers of Premier League football will be in agreement that Wolverhampton Wanderers have quite possibly had the best window out of all of the 20 teams competing in this year's top flight.

After storming the Championship, Nuno Espirito Santo, with super agent Jorge Mendes, has been able to strengthen his squad to the point where they look good value for a top 10 finish.

For starters, Willy Boly, Diogo Jota, Ruben Vinagre and Leo Bonatini, all key players on loan for their promotion success last term, have all been signed up on permanent deals.

Wolves have then drafted in Atletico Madrid left-back Jonny and Benfica striker Raul Jimenez on season-long loan deals, while taking advantage of Sporting CP's situation by snapping up Rui Patricio on a free transfer. Fellow Portugal international Joao Moutinho has also made the move to Molineux for just £5 million.

A wonderful summer of incomings concluded with the club-record capture of Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore for £18 million, and the loan signing of Belgium international Leander Dendoncker - though the club say the deal will become permanent next summer.

Though a £16 million deal for Oleksandr Zinchenko didn't materialise after he opted to stay at Manchester City, it's been a quite sublime transfer window for Wolves upon their return to the big-time.

Expectations have risen naturally because of the level of player recruitment, but there's reason to believe that they can achieve great things this term.

When Kanye West said he was going to fix Wolves in 2016, he was absolutely right. Nice one, Yeezy.
