But, following the mega sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £142 million, Liverpool are eager to accelerate Keita's transfer by landing him this month with the window open.
RB Leipzig are reportedly prepared to let him leave this month as long as Liverpool cough up an extra £13-17.5 million, according to German outlet Bild.
While the club have slapped a price on his head, Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhüttl wants the 22-year-old to remain with the Bundesliga team.
And during training on Thursday morning, Keita sat out of the session, 'lacking energy and enthusiasm,' amid rumours of a January switch to the Premier League.
