Spurs are ready to open talks with a bunch of first-team players, but it appears one star has rejected the initial offer.

Midfield duo Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min are set to be subject to new deals following their performances for Spurs, this season.

The pair have contributed goals and assists, proving to be vital players for Mauricio Pochettino.

As well as Eriksen and Son, Harry Kane will be offered a new and improved deal which includes a pay rise.

Kane's ability to score at will has Europe's elite keeping tabs on him, and Spurs are hoping a new contract will fend off the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United who have been linked with his services.

Though the situation is a little murky with Toby Alderweireld.

According to The Times, the brilliant Belgium defender has turned down the initial new deal tabled to him by the club.

His Spurs future is up in the air with only 18 months left on his current contract. Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City have reportedly expressed an interest.

But the club remain confident that they can tie the 28-year-old to a new deal.

Alderweireld first plied his trade in the Premier League with Southampton in 2013. He was on loan from Atletico Madrid with Spurs eventually signing him on a permanent.

He's now entering his third season in North London, with uncertainty surrounding his Spurs career.

Meanwhile, Alderweireld is still sidelined through a hamstring injury sustained during their Champions League campaign against Real Madrid, with Pochettino ruling him out until February.

"We cannot change the reality. The reality is he is injured and cannot play until February," he said.

Spurs will be hoping Alderweireld returns as soon as possible with crucial domestic and European fixtures ahead.
