In one of the more surprising transfer stories of the summer, it appears that former Tottenham midfielder Paulinho could be on the verge of completing a move to Bayern Munich.

No, your eyes aren't dreaming. You really did just read that.

The Brazilian, who currently plies his trade for Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League, spent two seasons at White Hart Lane before moving to the Far East for almost £10 million in the summer of 2015.

In the past two years, the 28-year-old has helped Guangzhou to back-to-back league titles and lifted the 2016 Asian Champions League, as well. He even had the audacity to bag a hat-trick in a recent World Cup qualifier for Brazil, against Uruguay.

And now, Paulinho's Chinese renaissance looks to have potentially earned him the biggest move of his career, with Carlo Ancelotti identifying the former Spurs man as one of his top targets to bolster his squad ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The Bayern manager's interest in Paulinho has been well documented for a couple of months now, but in the last few days, it appears said interest has accelerated, with Globosporte in Brazil reporting that a deal is imminent.

No, we can't quite believe it, either.

To add further fuel to the fire, not that it necessarily means anything, but Paulinho has also started following Bayern Munich on Instagram, which is always a sure fire way to set tongues wagging.

While it almost feels dirty to praise a football agent, it's safe to say Paulinho owes his agent a the biggest fuck off pay rise in the history of big fuck off pay rises.
