Lionel Messi has reacted to the possibility of Neymar returning to Barcelona.

Neymar remains subject to intense transfer speculation with reports even suggesting a move to Real Madrid could be on the cards.

It's a complicated situation as echoed by Messi: "I see it as complicated," he told Marca.

"We would love him to come back for what he means, both as a player and for the locker room.

"We are friends, we have lived very nice moments, others not so much, but we have spent a lot of time together."

The Brazilian superstar enjoyed four seasons at Camp Nou, scoring and creating goals while winning a load of trophies. From La Liga to Champions League success.

Though it seems Neymar wanted to leave Messi's shadow to forge his own legacy.

But the Argentine is open for the 26-year-old to return to Spain. However, he feels PSG won't let him leave.

"However, I find it very difficult [for him] to even leave Paris," he added.

"PSG are not going to let Neymar get taken away."

Neymar is in his second campaign at PSG, having won the league title in his debut term yet the club are hellbent on winning the Champions League to assert themselves as a European powerhouse.

They face Manchester United in the next round.
