Harry Maguire has reportedly told Leicester City that he wants to leave the club this summer amid reports linking him with Manchester United and Manchester City.

Maguire, 26, remains subject to intense transfer speculation. He's been strongly linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium with both United and City interested in acquiring his services.

And fresh reports now claim the defender has informed the club that he wants to purse a move to United or City.

"Can confirm Harry Maguire has told #lcfc management and players he wants to pursue a move to #mufc or #mcfc if the valuation (£80m-£90m) is met. Leicester expect him to be professional if a move doesn't materialise before the transfer deadline," John Percy wrote on Twitter about Maguire's transfer situation.

"It also has be stressed this wasn't a formal transfer request and #lcfc have promised not to stand in his way if the valuation is met."

United ambassador Denis Irwin has confirmed the club have not yet struck a deal to sign Maguire from Leicester.

When asked about the England international, he said: "No, no, Harry is a Leicester player isn't he.

"Listen, we finished really, really poorly last year. When Ole took over, we were really struggling.

"We were 11 points behind fourth place, and we got ourselves up there, got ourselves to the quarter-final of the Champions League, and we fell away badly in the last two months, six weeks of the season.

"This is Ole's first pre-season, so he has got a chance to stamp his identity on the football team and the way he wants Manchester United to play.

"We've brought in a couple of young lads, who have got plenty of pace - I think something that we lacked in the last two-three years - and I think we need another couple of signings.

"It would be great to get another few signings in and go from there because it's a fresh start, a clean slate."
