Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid colleague Luka Modric has reacted to him potentially signing for Juventus.

The Portuguese superstar remains heavily linked with a sensational transfer to the Italian champions. Reports even suggest a deal has been agreed in the region of £88 million.

He's expected to pen a four-year contract worth a staggering £26.5 million a season.

Despite talks well underway, Modric is confident Ronaldo will remain at the club. The Croatian captain is also hoping he does stay because he's the 'best player in the world'.

"Let's see what happens. I don't think he's going to leave, and I'd like him to stay because he's the best player in the world," he told AS.

"I think he's going to stay; that's my opinion. It would be great if he did, because I can't imagine him at any other club."

Well, Luka, get imagining because Ronaldo to Juventus is gathering steam ahead of an official unveiling.

The 33-year-old has been at Real Madrid since 2009 following a then-record breaking transfer from Manchester United.

He's won the lot for Los Blancos - including FOUR Champions League titles, scoring goals at an alarming rate while breaking record after record.

Meanwhile, Modric spoke about his teammate after securing a World Cup semi-final spot in dramatic circumstances.

He netted a penalty in the shootout as his side beat tournament hosts Russia, which sets-up a game against England for a place in the final.

Croatia vs. England goes down at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on Wednesday (7 pm BST kick-off).
