The Most Insane Swap Deal Involving Real Madrid And Liverpool Is Doing The Rounds

The Most Insane Swap Deal Involving Real Madrid And Liverpool Is Doing The Rounds

Peak transfer window insanity

Every transfer window, whether it be summer or winter, 90 per cent of the rumours that do the rounds usually end up being wildly inaccurate. And there are those that are so apeshit mental that you wonder how they even began in the first place and, deep down, you actually wonder if they might just actually happen.

Let's face it, since Paris Saint-Germain spent the debt of a third world country on bringing Neymar and (soon to be permanently) Kylian Mbappe to the French capital, anything seems possible in the world of football when it comes to transfers.

So it is with this in mind that the latest rumour regarding a swap deal involving two key Real Madrid and Liverpool players seems both implausible and at the same time entirely possible.

Don Balon in Spain are currently running with a story that is claiming the Spanish and European champions will offer Gareth Bale in a straight swap deal for Liverpool's Egyptian goal machine Mohamed Salah, who has lit up the Premier League, this season following his £38 million move from Roma, last summer.

Salah has already found the back of the net 23 times in just 29 games, this term and is sure to be in the running for the PFA Player Of The Year award given the level of his performances during the 2017/18 campaign. And typically, as has become customary whenever a forward player does well for Liverpool, La Liga's top two have reportedly come sniffing.

With Philippe Coutinho having just left Anfield for Barcelona in a £142 million deal, Jurgen Klopp and the Reds' board aren't going to be even thinking of entertaining any more offers for key players, but that hasn't stopped the Spanish press linking Real with a straight swap for Bale.

The Welshman, despite collecting three Champions Leagues, a La Liga title and a Copa Del Rey since his world record breaking move to the Bernabeu in 2013, has never been fully accepted by the Los Blancos fans and has seen his last couple of seasons severely disrupted by a series of injuries.

Bale made only 27 appearances in all competitions last season and has made just 16 in the current campaign, fuelling rumours that Zinedine Zidane is willing to move him on, with Salah the preferred replacement.

Do you believe this deal could happen, though?
