Leeds United are reportedly in the mix to sign free agent Gianluigi Buffon.

The legendary keeper, 41, left Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season and he's considering his future with options on the table.

Parma and Atalanta, among others, are believed to be weighing up a summer move for Buffon.

Not to mention Leeds who're trying to sign the Italian according to Corriere della Sera.

Of course, Leeds failed to secure promotion to the Premier League after losing to Derby County in the Play-Off semi-final.

Despite a disappointing end to last season, Marcelo Bielsa will remain as Leeds manager and he's targetting signings for the new season with Buffon on his transfer wish list.

While the ex-Juventus man has not hinted at retirement from football, not everyone is keen to see him prolong his glittering career.

Former Sampdoria and Inter Milan shot-stopper Guido Pagliuca believes that it's time for Buffon to call it a day.

"The best keeper of the last 20 years? Buffon. The most consistent and complete," the 52-year-old said.

"And he has won more. He lived through difficult moments and he got back up again.

"As a great friend of his, I suggest that he have respect for his immense career.

"Continuing is a risk. And it is sad to make the end of [Francesco] Totti, seeing the matches off the bench. I advise him to retire here."
