Pepe Will Have His Contract At Besiktas Terminated On Monday

Nobody expected this one...

He may have been linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer, but the ever-controversial Pepe will have his contract at Besiktas terminated on Monday.

Wolves were the club rumoured to be interested in the former Real Madrid centre-back, who impressed for Portugal in the World Cup, but those transfer talks never materialised.

bEIN Sports have reported the news, while a Turkish outlet claim his teammates and managers have said goodbye after he emptied his locker in the Nevzat training facility.

Journalist Murat Özen confirmed the news earlier saying: "Pepe left Besiktas!"

The 35-year-old would certainly bring plenty of experience to a potential suitor.

He's won the Champions League on three occasions during a successful 10 year spell at Real Madrid, as well as making 334 appearances for the club. He also lifted the European Championship with Portugal in 2016 and is one appearance away from 100 caps for his country.

He would certainly bring personality and leadership to the Premier League, but he has been criticized in the past for his over-dramatic diving antics.

But he is a controversial figure, to say the least. If you look back at Pepe's career, this bloke tends to play act on a regular basis.

Actually, that might just be the understatement of the year after his antics against Morocco earlier this year.

In one of the most ridiculous moments in World Cup history, never mind this week, Morocco defender Medhi Benatia literally tapped his back and Pepe, being the overdramatic person he is, dived like someone had literally broken his leg.

This is just embarrassing. Is this really necessary?

One person who isn't exactly the biggest fan of Pepe is Gary Lineker, who has been known to express his opinion on the former Real Madrid player in years gone by.

Especially during Los Blancos' Champions League run in 2016, when the Portuguese defender was, surprisingly, a massive nuisance.

Lineker took to Twitter to brandish Pepe a 'dick' during the final after he spent half the time rolling round like he'd been shot in order to get opposition players booked.

So, who is interested?
