Philippe Coutinho has reportedly given his approval to a stunning offer from Liverpool to take him back on a two-year loan with the option to buy for £88 million.

Italian outlet Calciomercato claim Coutinho has given his backing to an offer from Liverpool.

The report suggests Liverpool will take him back on a two-year loan deal with the option to buy for £88 million.

The Brazilian midfielder continues to be linked with a move away from the Camp Nou, and his agent Kia Joorabchi revealed that the player would find it difficult to move to one of Liverpool's rivals.

"I think Liverpool lies very, very deeply in his heart, he was a big fan of them throughout the campaign [last season]," he said amid reports regarding his future.

"He was wishing for them to win the title and he has a very strong affinity there so I think it will be very difficult for him to go to a direct competitor of Liverpool from a personal standpoint."

Despite struggling at Barcelona following his £142 million transfer in January 2017, Jamie Carragher would be happy to see him return to Liverpool.

"I wouldn't say I would be actively going to get him, but if there was a possibility of bringing Coutinho back for decent money, and Barca wanted to cut their losses a little bit because it hasn't worked out, then I'd do that," he said.

"Would he be welcomed back? I'm not sure. But he should be. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be.

"I know he got a little bit of stick when he came back (with Barcelona for the Champions League semi-final earlier this month) because he wanted to move.

"We lack that player in the squad. We have it in Lallana and Shaqiri, but this is a different level of player,

"It's the one thing Man City have on us, they have Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne. We don't have that type of player.

"We have great midfield players who are all very similar. We could add something a little bit different. "But that would only really be if it was a good price for us."
