Chelsea Considering Re-Signing Former Player In Surprising Transfer

It's come from out of nowhere...

Chelsea acquired Maurizio Sarri's trusty midfielder Jorginho mere hours after announcing the former Napoli boss as Antonio Conte's replacement, but their second summer signing could well be a very odd one.

With rumours hotting up that Thibaut Courtois could be on his way to Real Madrid, it's emerged that former Blues goalkeeper Petr Cech is the primary target to fill the Belgian's gloves if he does join Los Blancos.

It's been reported by Kaveh Solhekol from Sky Sports that the FA Cup winners are considering signing Cech for a second time.

He joined from Rennes in 2004 and went on to make just under 500 appearances, keeping 220 clean sheets and winning four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, one Europa League and one Champions League.

After Courtois returned to Chelsea from a outstanding loan spell with Atletico Madrid, Cech found himself demoted to second-choice goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge and left for Arsenal at the start of the 2015/16 in a £10 million deal.

But now, with Bernd Leno signing for the Gunners from Bayer Leverkusen, Cech may well end up back in West London at the age of 36.

The Daily Mail say that new Arsenal boss Unai Emery is prepared to let Cech leave this summer so the surprise deal might just be on the cards.

Cech is undoubtedly a Chelsea legend but made seven errors leading to goals in the Premier League last term. Would he be the right option if Courtois leaves?

Sound off in the comments.
