David Beckham's new MLS franchise Inter Miami are looking to sign renowned striker Edinson Cavani on a stunning free transfer when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires in June 2020.

The Miami-based team are in the process of assembling an entire squad for the new season, and it appears the club have already identified a marque signing.

Reports suggest Beckham's attempting to sign Cavani who could arrive in Miami on a free transfer once his current deal expires.

The Uruguayan star, 32, is PSG's leading scorer in history with 194 goals in 281 games but this campaign could be his last in Paris.

He's been strongly linked with a move away from the French capital with Beckham hoping to lure him to the States and seal the striker's luxurious services.

Beckham, of course, played for PSG between 2012 to 2013 and has a good relationship with the club.

Inter Miami are also on the hunt for a manager ahead of playing their first competitive fixtures in March.

Beckham's believed to have held talks with ex-teammate Gennaro Gattuso with Jorge Mas, one of four co-owners, saying they'll appoint a coach with an "attacking style".

"We are trying to get someone who can also commit here for a period of time and leave his fingerprints on our team," he said.

"it's someone you're going to know who has coached before at the highest level and who has played at the highest level."

So far, Inter Miami have snapped up Matias Pellegrini, Julian Carranza and Christian Makoun. They also expect to sign English players.

"I think you will see if you look at our young signings, we've made substantial investments in them," he added.

"We're going to couple them with players who have played in Europe who are very well known.

"We've looked at some English players. We're having some conversations with some English players and we anticipate Inter Miami will have some English presence."
