It is now official. Manchester United have finally reached an agreement with Benfica to sign defender Victor Lindelof.

An official statement read:

"Manchester United is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with Benfica for the transfer of Victor Lindelof, subject to a medical examination, international clearance and personal terms.

A further announcement will be made once the transfer is complete."

This transfer rumour in particular has been a slow burner, but the Reds have finally got their man.

United have been heavily linked with the 22-year-old since the January transfer window, when it appeared that a deal had been done, only for Jose Mourinho to opt out.

He was thought to have decided that the revitalised partnership of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo was his preferred partnership for the remainder of the 2016/17 campaign.

If Manchester United fans want to see more of the defender, here's a compilation of some of Lindelof's best bits, displaying the main assets of his game:

It is thought that he and Eric Bailly could form a formidable partnership at the heart of Mourinho's United defence.

Two young, athletic centre-halves is something United have lacked since the days of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

Away from United and Benfica, the biggest winners might be Swedish side Vasteras, who could be in line to receive a sum of nine million euros should the international centre back make the move to the Premier League.

The club are currently in the third division of the Swedish league but developed the player in his formative years before selling him on to the Portuguese giants in the summer of 2012.
