As if Tottenham's week hadn't been bad enough, with Mauricio Pochettino's men surrendering a two goal lead to lose 3-2 to London rivals West Ham in the League Cup in midweek and then losing to Manchester United in the Premier League, yesterday, they may now have to come to terms with being without one of their key players for the rest of the season.
On Sky Sports' Sunday Supplement, Daily Mail Football Editor Ian Ladyman suggested that midfielder Victor Wanyama could be out for the remainder of the campaign, with the Kenyan's injury being more serious than initially feared.
On Friday Spurs announced that "Victor Wanyama is receiving treatment and continuing to go through rehabilitation, following up with a specialist next week" and it would now appear that Wanyama's knee injury is not going to heal any time soon.

Wanyama was instrumental in Spurs' push for the Premier League title, last season. Although Mauricio Pochettino's men ended up coming up short in pursuit of their first title in over 50 years, they did enjoy their best ever Premier League finish, and the former Southampton man's all action displays during his 36 league appearances were one of the driving forces behind Spurs' improvement.

This season however, it looks as though Wanyama's two appearances will be all he manages, if Ladyman's report is revealed to be accurate.

The injury to Wanyama could potentially allow youngster Harry Winks to enjoy more opportunities in the first team, having already earned plenty of plaudits in Wanyama's absence, which included a sterling performance during Tottenham's 1-1 draw with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, last week.
