Thierry Henry reckons a Manchester United starlet needs to think about his future if he wants regular first-team football.

Jose Mourinho recruited in January with the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, and he's slotted straight into the starting XI.

But following his addition, Marcus Rashford has played second fiddle, occupying a spot on the bench.

And, once again, his United future has been subject to debate.

On Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher proposed the question to Henry who responded eloquently, as ever.

"One of the most important things for me is that you have to play. You cannot be on the bench and missing games, missing learning about the game and stopping that momentum, and an example is Rashford," he said.

He then named Michael Owen as a player who benefited from a consistent run in the side during his stint at Liverpool.

"Michael Owen had the opportunity to back up what he did the year before because he played, and he played, and he played, and he played - and I can give you more examples.

When Rashford has been selected, Mourinho has often resorted playing him out of position.

"But Rashford at times could not capitalise on what he did from that year [after his debut], because sometimes he is playing on the right, [sometimes] on the left," Henry added.

The 20-year-old is a local lad who graduated from the clubs famed youth academy.

While leaving would be a drastic move, Henry feels the budding England international needs game time under his belt.

"Leave is a strong word. Obviously being from there, he wants to play for United. But he has to play and it is becoming even more difficult for him since Sanchez has arrived.

"I think at the end of the season, he is maybe going to have a thinking day of 'do I stay?'"

Before sending him a message: "What I am saying to him is: you need to play. It can be at Manchester United. I'm not saying he can't play at Manchester United, but he still has not had that run of games to carry on the momentum that he has.

"Especially at a young age, you play on that at times. I don't know if he is going to leave or not, but he needs to play."

Rashford has still played 37 games in all competitions, this season. While weighing in 10 goals.

But is he set to move away from Old Trafford? Let us know your thoughts.
