They may not have lifted much in the way of major silverware in the last 60 years, but Newcastle United have once again proven to be the dominant force in UK football when it comes to lifting one title year after year.

The Magpies have topped the league for the worst behaved fans in England and Wales for the third time running, it has been revealed.

Newcastle fans have been served more banning orders than any other club in the UK, receiving 111 orders, which is actually a decrease on the 124 they received last year and the 132 for the 2014/15 season.

The Premier League club were followed by Wolverhampton Wanderers in second place, with 75 banning orders, while London rivals and Football Factory favourites West Ham and Millwall finished in third and fourth place, receiving a total of 57 and 55 bans, respectively.

Football related arrests have decreased significantly over the past year, with 2017 seeing a 14% drop in arrests, from 1,895 to 1,638 over the last 12 months.

The drop is the sixth successive year the number has fallen, with the 2010/11 season seeing 3,174 fans arrested - an impressive 39% drop in the space of six years.

The most arrests took place in the Championship, this year with 620 fans from the second tier being arrested in comparison with 507 from Premier League clubs.
