Liverpool could be drawn with Real Madrid in a potential Champions League 'group of death' this season.

In a worst case scenario, Liverpool, who're placed in Pot 1, could find themselves in a group with Real Madrid, fallen European giants Inter Milan as well as Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.

Manchester City and Chelsea could also be in that group with both clubs also in Pot 1 as Premier League and Europa League champions, respectively.

Conversely, in a best-case scenario, Liverpool could also be in a group with Shakhtar Donetsk, Club Brugge and Young Boys when the draw is made on August 29.

Of course, Liverpool are defending champions following last season's triumph. They beat Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid to record their sixth European title.

And the Reds have since won another piece of European silverware in the shape of the UEFA Super Cup after beating Chelsea on penalties.
