The top 20 fastest players of the 2018 World Cup so far have been revealed - and somehow speed demon Kylian Mbappe does not feature.

The PSG sensation turned on the jets in a huge way against Argentina in the round of 16 clash, en route to a two-goal, match-winning performance in the thrilling 4-3 victory last Saturday.

Mbappe breezed past the entire Argentine midfield and defence by displaying some quite incredible pace, before being clumsily brought down by Marcos Rojo for a penalty 13 minutes in.

It was Usain Bolt levels of speed from the 19-year old boywonder, with plenty of people having his pace down as 37 or 38km/h.

However, FIFA statistics have recorded that sprint as 32.4km/h. It's still very fast, but not enough to make the top 20 - which is joint-topped by Mbappe's idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portugal talisman may be 33 but he proved he's still got some serious pace to burn, reaching a ridiculous 34km/h when he darted 80 yards up the pitch from a corner during a counter attack in the 3-3 draw with Spain, as per The Mirror.

The five-time Ballon d'Or isn't alone on that impressive number though, as Croatia's Ante Rebic has also recorded the very same speed and is therefore joint first.

Peru's Luis Advincula, who we knew was rapid beforehand after a clip of him in action went viral, took third place with 33.8km/h, while Colombia's Santiago Arias was just behind on 33.6km/h.

England speedsters Kyle Walkers and Jesse Lingard are one of four players representing the Three Lions in the top 20 - with both tied in fifth place on 33.5km/h.

The other two, nippy forwards Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling, are also level in 13th place along with a slew of other players, having generated a top speed of 33.1km/h according to data.

Here is the list in full:

1. Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) & Ante Rebic (Croatia) - 34km/h

3. Luis Advincula (Peru) - 33.8km/h

4. Santiago Arias (Colombia) - 33.6km/h

5. Kyle Walker (England) & Jesse Lingard - 33.5km/h

7. Maciej Rybus (Poland), Marquinhos (Brazil), Aleksandar Golovin (Russia), Dani Carvajal (Spain), Hirving Lozano (Mexico) & Heechan Hwang - 33.3km/h

13. Robbie Kruse (Australia), Marcos Ulrena (Costa Rica), Juan Cuadrado (Colombia), Matthew Leckie (Australia), Raheem Sterling (England), Johan Mojica (Colombia), Marcus Rashford (England) & Bartosz Bereszynski (Poland) - 33.1km/h
