While his teammates were in Germany, Anthony Martial was in Manchester. But there appears to be a good reason why he didn't travel for the Bayern Munich game.

Martial remains subject to intense transfer speculation. He continues to be heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

Fellow Premier League outfits Chelsea and Spurs, as well as Bayern Munich, have been linked with his services.

Amid uncertainty regarding Martial's future, United played their final pre-season friendly against the reigning Bundesliga champions, who inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Jose Mourinho's side.

The main talking point prior to the clash was the exclusion of Martial.

He didn't travel to Germany which stoked claims about his United career.

However, according to ESPN, the Frenchman missed the match due to 'undertaking a double training session' at United's training base in Carrington.

Interesting.

It seemed like Mourinho had made his mind up about the player, but is this latest development a sign of him potentially staying at the club for the new season?

Anyway, further reports also suggest a possible swap deal with Chelsea and Spurs could be on the cards. Willian and Toby Alderweireld, respectively, have been mentioned.
