History is made

Iceland took just 23 minutes to make history and score their first ever World Cup goal.

Sergio Aguero notched Argentina in front when he opened his World Cup account in his ninth appearance in the tournament - the Manchester City forward turning sharply in the box and firing home a belting strike into the top corner with his left foot.

But minnows Iceland responded instantly and were level four minutes later. Willy Caballero could only palm a Gylfi Sigurdsson cross/shot into the path of Augsburg striker Alfreð Finnbogason, who made no mistake and grabbed himself a poachers' goal.

The history-maker wheeled away in celebration with his teammates as the travelling supporters made a whole lot of deafening noise in Moscow.

Here's what Twitter made of the stunning World Cup moment:

Just as they did two years ago at Euro 2016, Iceland are looking perfectly at home amongst the world's best.
