You might think your Sunday League outfit is brimming with talent and experience at a good level but we're pretty sure it doesn't compare with Monica Star FC.

That's because, as per the Birmingham Mail, the team has a quartet of former Premier League players and ex internationals in their over 35's team based in Central Warwickshire.

Former Everton midfielder Lee Carsley, capped 40 times by the Republic of Ireland, joined four seasons ago as his brother is pals with some of the squad.

The 44-year old, now working as England Under 21 assistant boss, planned to help out on the odd occasion to begin with but now features on a regular basis.

Also in the side is former Aston Villa favourite Lee Hendrie, who made over 300 appearances for the club and was capped once by England back in 1998, while his former Villains colleague Darren Byfield linked up with him at Star.

Paul Devlin, who featured 10 times for Scotland and had two separate stints with Birmingham City, completes the star-studded list.

Star, who have been up and running for 41 years, reached the Veterans Cup final for the second year on the trot following a tight 2-1 semi-final win over Wychall Wanderers Veterans, who have Villa legend Stiliyan Petrov in their ranks, back in May.

Julio Arca, formerly of Middlesbrough and Sunderland, is another one who has played regular Sunday League football after retiring from the professional game - while the legendary Paul Scholes recently came out retirement to play in the eleventh division of English football.

In September, at the age of 43, the Manchester United legend pulled on the maroon strip of Royton Town for their 1-0 defeat to Stockport Georgians.
