Spurred on by trolls who mocked him, former Premier League striker Mido has revealed he has lost a whopping 37 kilos (nearly 6 stone).

The 35-year old, who played in England with the likes of Spurs, Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic and West Ham, retired in 2013 and turned his attention to management - coaching former side Zamalek on two occasions as well as Ismaily and Wadi Degla in his homeland.

However, Mido, never really a slim Jim in his playing career, piled on the pounds and a recent unflattering picture posted on holiday led to some abuse online.

But the well-travelled striker has evidently putting in the work and seeing the benefits. He posted a recent picture of himself looking fit and healthy, revealing to his 3.83 million followers that he has lost a whopping 37 kilos and still intends to lose some more timber.

And Mido also paid tribute to everyone that criticised him as they inspired him to change and own his life.

That wasn't all though, as Mido, who scored 20 goals in 51 games for his country, jokingly pleaded with Egypt manager Hector Cooper to bring him back into the fold for the nation's first World Cup in 28 years.

Fair play, Mido. He's produced the perfect response to those who mocked him and will look in even better shape if he is able to lose the final 15.

With Mo Salah not going to be 100 per cent for the tournament, get Mido on the plane...
