After almost two years on the sidelines, former Swansea favourite Michu made a triumphant return to Real Oviedo last night by scoring two goals on his second debut with his boyhood team, during their Copa Del Rey tie with Murcia.

Michu's career stalled in 2013/14 after an incredible debut season with the Swans, when the Spain international bagged 22 goals. The next season brought only two league goals and a series of complications with ankle problems.

A loan move to Napoli didn't improve matters and, during a Europa League tie with BSC Young Boys in October 2014, Michu was removed after an hour and wouldn't play another professional game until last night.

Oviedo were trailing 3-1 with just seven minutes to go before the former Swansea striker popped up with a dramatic late double to take the tie into extra-time where, unfortunately for Michu, Murcia would striker again to deny him a fairytale comeback.

At the age of 30 and with his ankle problems potentially behind him, should the former Swansea hero rekindle his finest form, another shot at Premier League football may await Michu.
