Vincent Kompany is a model professional, on and off the field.

The Manchester City and Belgium defender is one of the nicest guys in football, and Kompany has once again proven his kindness by granting lifelong Manchester City fan David Burns his dying wish.

Burns, who has been told by doctors that his throat cancer is incurable, had one wish that came true earlier this week when Vincent surprised the 74-year-old with a marvelous gesture.

Burns' family were moved to tears as Kompany strolled through the door following his 90 mile journey to see David in Chester.

Kompany spent more than an hour speaking to Burns about his favourite City memories and players from years gone by.

Burns' wife Christine spoke to The Manchester Evening News about the meeting, saying that the 74-year-old was 'gobsmacked' by the occasion:

"It was unbelievable. His face when he first realised who it was just amazing. He couldn't believe it.

"He said 'Hello David' and sat down next to him. They were chatting for ages. He was asking who his favourite City players were from his youth and was teaching Vinnie about some of them.

"He was such a nice guy, so lovely.

"I was in tears seeing them together as I knew how much it meant to him."

Here you can see the footage of Kompany's emotional encounter with Burns:

David had told his wife that meeting Kompany would be his dream, so the family made an appeal to Manchester City and his dream came true.

Well played, Vincent - you've made a man very happy this week.
