Watch: Manchester City Target Fred Scores A Glorious Free-Kick For Shakhtar

An absolute gem of a strike...

Manchester City transfer target Fred may well have bumped up his price-tag a bit more after scoring a belting free-kick against Roma.

Shakhtar were 1-0 down at home to the Serie A side in the Champions League round of 16 first leg, but Facundo Ferreyra, formerly of Newcastle, levelled matters just after half-time.

Then, Brazilian Fred completed the turnaround in the 72nd minute with a stunning left-footed free-kick right that flew in off the crossbar.

His compatriot, Alisson, in the Giallorossi goal, had absolutely no chance.

It's looking like Fred will be a Manchester City player by the time the summer window rolls around, though he won't come on the cheap.

Pep Guardiola explored the possibility of signing the 24-year old in the January transfer window, but turned attentions to Riyad Mahrez as he looked to bring in the Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez on deadline day.

According to UOL Esporte, there is an agreement in place for Fred to move to the Etihad.

Former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva is the player's agent, having taken over from Ronaldinho's brother.

It is said he tried to thrash out a deal in January, but it now looks nailed on that he will be a City player at the end of the season instead.

Fred impressed in his two games against City this season, including the 2-1 win on home soil in the final Champions League group game in December.

Is he the ideal replacement for Fernandinho at City?

Sound off in the comments.
