Pablo Zabaleta surprised a group of Manchester City fans before his move to West Ham United.

The Argentine defender joined up with City in 2008 and made over 330 appearances with the club before his departure this week.

During his time at the Etihad, Zabaleta won the FA Cup once, two Premier League titles and the League Cup on two occasions.

But he said his goodbyes to the club following last weekend's 5-0 win at Watford.

As part of a final surprise, City TV invited seven fans to tell them how much they loved their former right-back.

But little did they know, Zabaleta was standing backstage listening to everything they said before eventually coming out from behind the curtain to say thanks and give them one final goodbye hug.

City fans, get the tissues ready:

West Ham confirmed the signing of the 32-year-old earlier today on a two-year contract as they prepare for next season.

Zabaleta confirmed the news earlier on today after he was spotted on a train from Euston to Manchester on Thursday evening.

Twitter user @JRizla posed for a picture with the Argentine defender, and Zabaleta confirmed that he will complete his move to the Hammers this summer.

Zabaleta won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups as a City player, making 332 appearances in the process.

West Ham fans, are you happy with the signing? At 32 years of age, is an ageing full-back the player you need to bolster a leaky defence?
