Sir Alex Ferguson Receives The Most Incredible Welcome On His Return To Old Trafford

He's back where he belongs.

He was expected to make his comeback at Old Trafford towards the end of the year, but it has been confirmed that Sir Alex Ferguson will be in the stands to watch his former side play against Wolves today.

In fact, Manchester United have honoured the return of Sir Alex by giving him the most incredible welcome back. Goosebumps.

Before kick-off the club encouraged fans attending this afternoon's game to be in their seats for 14:45 BST as they prepared the 76-year-old's return after suffering a brain haemorrhage in May this year.

It was an incredible moment for all involved, especially Ferguson who won 38 trophies during a remarkable 26 year spell at Old Trafford.

Ferguson spent four weeks in hospital before being released, with doctors saying he is"extremely lucky" to be alive.

Back in May, Peter Hamlyn, a consultant neurosurgeon, said the following about the great man's recovery:

"His surgeons have decided to operate almost certainly because they felt the size of the blood clot was causing damage to the remaining brain tissue. This is often life-saving surgery and aims to reduce any long-term disability Sir Alex might suffer from this form of stroke," he wrote in Independent Ireland.

"For the first few days after the operation, the focus is on the patient's life support. A prognosis is very hard to give in the first days and often for some weeks.

"If they survive without signs of improvement after several months, then it is unlikely that an individual will return to their former health. However, in the immediate aftermath there is everything to fight for and the potential for a full recovery, albeit sometimes after a long period of rehabilitation."

We are delighted to see Fergie back in the stands watching the club he made so great, and many paid tribute to the legendary manager ahead of his return.

Welcome back, boss.
