To think, some people are still convinced that Harry Kane is a one-season wonder.

The England international proved his doubters wrong once again on Saturday afternoon, scoring a hat-trick against a struggling Southampton side at Wembley.

In the meaning, Kane smashed Alan Shearer's 22 year old Premier League record for the most goals in a calendar year - that's more goals in 52 weeks than anyone else in Premier League history.

Shearer, who set the record of 36 goals back in 1995 when he was playing for Blackburn Rovers, has since received plenty of stick on Twitter.

Even his good friend and Match of the Day colleague Gary Lineker reminded him of Kane's achievement.

It took him just 22 minutes to get the goal he needed, heading home from a Christian Eriksen free kick to put Spurs 1-0 up and Lineker produced a classic tweet.
