Scott Pollock's remarkable journey in football keeps on rolling, with the youngster handed a professional contract by Northampton Town today.

The young midfielder used to play for Hashtag United, the football team set up by popular YouTuber Spencer Owen - or 'Spencer FC' as he is better known as on the online world.

Starting out as a team of friends from school and university before it became a collection of some of the biggest YouTube personalities, Hashtag have been playing eleven-a-side games all over the place for a while now, with matches filmed by a production crew, before being uploaded for their 430,000 YouTuber subscribers to watch.

Fast forward to the present day and they play their home games at the 2,500-capacity Coles Park Stadium in Tottenham, while they also currently top the Eastern Senior League South table, with 76 points from 32 games.

And in former player Pollock, they've already got their biggest success story to date as he has now being offered to sign professional terms - becoming the first player from the post-16 football and education programme to do so.

Looking to further his career, he attended the Northampton Town football and education programme before absolutely smashing it in the club's under 18 side, bagging 10 goals in nine games.

In September, a couple of weeks on from signing a two-year scholarship, he was rewarded for his fine form with a place on the bench for the League Two game against Mansfield.

Then, things got even better for him in January when he made his first-team debut for the Cobblers in a 3-2 defeat away at Cambridge United.

"It was a proud moment for me, I've had a season ticket for a number of years and it was great to be a part of the team I once watched," he told SPORTbible.

"I have worked hard over the last year and hopefully there is more of these opportunities to come."

Pollock already has a Man of the Match performance in front of 30,000 fans at Wembley under his belt, having shone in the Soccer Aid-style Wembley Cup game against Tekkers Town, who had Steven Gerrard, David James and Emile Heskey in their side, back in October 2017.

The the experience of playing for Hashtag was pivotal in his route into professional football.

"I think that Hashtag has helped me develop as a player. It gave me an experience of men's football which has helped when training with the first team," he added.

"It has also helped my confidence as the feedback has been great from the fans and the players. Travelling around the world and playing in stadiums with big capacities gave me a taste of professional football."
