After goals from Paul Pogba (x2), Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial tonight, Manchester United hammered Fenerbahce as Jose Mourinho's men joined the Turkish side at the top of Group A.
Although Pogba will inevitably grab the headlines tomorrow morning, one player in particular was praised for his vision and spacial awareness in midfield as the veteran of Mourinho's side Michael Carrick was deservedly applauded throughout.
Carrick, who has made just three appearances for United this season, completed 96% of passes this evening, an incredible stat but to compare him to Andrea Pirlo? Really?

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves, who appeared on BT Sport this evening as a pundit, said that the closest player to Andrea Pirlo when he was at Juventus was Carrick.
Carrick and Pogba to form a midfield partnership? Owen Hargreaves certainly thinks so:
What do you think of Hargreaves' comments? Surely Carrick will start in Manchester United's next game.
